The Black Rites Wellness Protocol

The Black Rites Wellness Protocol is a practical approach to flow, longevity, and self-actualization through personalized ritual creation. When I think of self-actualization, I think of becoming a virtuous master. My mental image of a master is a gray-haired elderly person that, when demonstrating their expertise, performs with “effortless effort.” We have all encountered this effortlessness when we access our flow state, getting in the “zone” or “groove.” It seems to me that masters remain in this state constantly, even as they go through their daily mundane tasks.

Self-actualization - the realization or fulfillment of one’s talents and potentialities, especially considered as a drive or need present in everyone.
Flow - a flow state, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting loss in one’s sense of space and time.

The gray hairs indicate that it takes time to acquire the skill level to demonstrate mastery in their respective disciplines, so it’s important that longevity is the focus of anyone seeking to self-actualize. If given enough time, anything is possible; this includes mastery and miracles. You obtain longevity through practices cultivated in your wellness and through the discipline to keep them consistent. What’s most important is that you remain ambitious in pushing your wellness to its horizons.

Longevity - a long individual life; a great duration of individual life.
Wellness - an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.

Not every elder is a master, and not every master is an elder. When you aim to be the best version of yourself over time, then what you do with that time is important. The Black Rites Wellness Protocol thus provides a practical solution to self-actualization through an effective time management system.

The 8 Dimensions of Wellness

Wellness incorporates all aspects of your life and is broken down into 8 dimensions: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Environmental, Social, Occupational, Financial, and Emotional. These 8 dimensions allow you to reduce the clutter in your mind and hone your mind to focus on the few things that truly matter. By improving these 8 areas of focus, you’re able to access longevity and constant flow in your life.

Spiritual Wellness

health by expanding a sense of purpose and meaning in life.

Intellectual Wellness

health by recognizing and engaging in your creative abilities, and finding ways to expand your knowledge and skills.

Physical Wellness

health by recognizing and engaging in your need for physical activity, healthy foods, and sleep.

Environmental Wellness

health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being while engaging in a lifestyle that is respectful of your surroundings.

Social Wellness

health by developing a sense of connection and belonging to others, and nurturing supportive relationships.

Occupational Wellness

health by achieving personal satisfaction and enrichment from your work.

Financial Wellness

health by achieving satisfaction with current and future financial situations.

Emotional Wellness

health by coping effectively with the emotions in life through self-care, emotional intelligence, stress reduction, and the development of inner strength.

The 8 dimensions are linked in a dynamically synergistic manner. By losing concentration in one dimension, you will find that it will have an effect on the others, and the same happens when you improve a dimension. For example, when your physical wellness is optimal, your intellectual wellness will also gain beneficial symptoms that you will learn about in part two of this book. Because of the interconnectedness between each dimension, it’s important that each dimension is kept optimal to maintain the integrity of your wellness.

The Masters and Their Rituals

Every master has a ritual. Your mastery will be the result of following one, too. Achieving mastery has been explained in many ways, written about in countless texts, and now it’s within your grasp. Rituals are important for us to manifest our desired outcome; thus, the creation of a ritual around an idea helps us to believe the outcome will arrive. Olympic athletes, doctors, lawyers, priests, and all professionals have rituals that support their desired outcome of mastery. Through the professional’s rituals, they begin to believe in the practice of their skills, which provides them with the confidence to demonstrate the “effortless effort.”

Ritual - a series of actions or a type of behavior regularly and invariably followed by someone.

The belief in the ritual doesn’t just happen because the person believes, but because the person believes, their behaviors change to support the belief. When a person believes that they’re stronger, then they begin to add more stimulus to their workout to make it more challenging, and through this process they continue to get stronger. Their minds influenced their behaviors and created that desired outcome. Belief without action doesn’t manifest, and a ritual itself is an action to help you sustain the belief.

Confidence is a Superpower

“If you haven't confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started. ”

- Marcus Garvey

Yes, you have a superpower, and in today’s society, it feels like our confidence is being suppressed at all times. The rituals you create should gradually build and protect your confidence for whatever you aim to master. Confidence is critical to this protocol because a build-up of confident thoughts and feelings in the mind has demonstrated unfathomable effects on internal and external human behavior. A great example of the effect of confidence is demonstrated in the phenomenon known as the placebo effect. This effect works because the patient is confident in the medicine’s ability to heal them, but in actuality, the patient heals themselves.

Confidence - the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something.
Placebo Effect -a phenomenon in which some people experience a benefit after the administration of an inactive substance or sham treatment.

A ritual then works in a similar fashion for a practitioner of any practice. The rituals that a person performs in any religion to conjure certain spiritual energy builds the confidence of its practitioner; thus, the desired outcome is a result of the practitioner’s confidence in the ritual. For instance, someone seeking guidance in their life can go to their temple and pray for guidance. The priest may give a prayer to elicit the connection directly from the heavens, and the recipient of that prayer may begin to feel confident that they will receive this guidance. Because of this, their focus changes in a way that allows them to be receptive to guidance from even the smallest details of their lives.

The practitioner themselves have manifested their own desired results, and this idea centralizes the divine power within the human, through the mind’s ability to influence the body. The Black Rites Wellness Protocol guides you in cultivating your own personalized ritual to build your confidence within yourself. When you tap into your superpower, what will you be capable of?
